It was said at the Committee meeting that the available data showed that the HIV was present in Montenegro but that was under control. It was pointed out that the spreading of HIV/AIDS was best prevented by dissemination of knowledge and raising the population’s awareness about this vicious disease. It was noted that there was extremely good cooperation between the NGOs dealing with this epidemic and the health institutions. Identifying risks and undertaking activities for early discovery of the disease is also crucial. It was concluded that the best indicator of results of the activities undertaken in the field of this epidemic was the fact that we had reached the stage where the people with the disease were getting to an advanced age and dying from some other diseases.
