Committee on Health, Labour and Social Welfare holds its 119th meeting

Committee on Health, Labour and Social Welfare devoted today’s meeting to current situation in the field of narcotic drugs in Montenegro

Aside from members of the Committee, the meeting was attended by a representative of the NGO 4 Life (NGO for fight against narcotic drugs), which initiated the Committee meeting. Also, the meeting was attended by representatives of: Ministry of Health, Institution for accommodation, rehabilitation and resocialisation of psychoactive substances' users in Montenegro - Kakaricka gora, Department for fight against narcotic drugs and trafficking in the Police Administration, Secretariat for Social Welfare of the Capital City of Podgorica, Public Health Institute of Montenegro, NGO “Juventas” and NGO “CAZAS”.

During the constructive and comprehensive discussion, the participants noted that narcotic drugs presented a problem that communities all over the world fought. The state institutions fighting this problem in Montenegro, guided by the practice of European countries, are trying to resolve it in the best possible manner. For achieving this goal, the systemic approach of the state is necessary, with participation of all enteties dealing with this issue, through programmes of prevention of narcotic drugs in primary education, and also throgh reducing the offer of narcotic drugs at the market.

In addition, they noted that the Committee was a partner for resolving problems in the field of narcotic drugs through institutions of the system, with a message that both - the cause of the addiction and its consequences should be addressed equally.
